Jagadgirigutta, Hyderabad : The Communist Party of India (CPI) continued its statewide bus campaign on Wednesday, culminating in a public meeting held at Jagadgirigutta, Giri Nagar, and Shapur Nagar. The campaign, led by the CPI Telangana State unit, aims to spread awareness about the party’s century-long struggles and achievements across the country.

CPI National Executive Committee member Pashya Padma, AIYF State President Valivudla Khader, Prajanatyamandali State Leader Uppalayya, and Rythu Sangham State Treasurer DJ Narendra Prasad took part in the program. The CPI Kuthbullapur Mandal Committee organized a bike rally ahead of the public gathering.

Addressing the crowd, Pashya Padma said that the CPI, which has completed 100 years since its inception, is celebrating the centenary with nationwide programmes, including a massive public meeting to be held soon in Khammam. She emphasized the Communist movement’s historic role in armed struggles, liberation of 3,000 villages, and redistribution of nearly 10 lakh acres of land to the poor — achievements unmatched by any other political party in India.

She also highlighted CPI’s significant land struggles in Medchal district, which enabled thousands of poor families to receive 60-square-yard residential plots. “Whether in power or not, the Communist Party has always fought for people’s rights. CPI remains the only party that lives in the hearts of people even after 100 years,” she said, adding that Communism is still the strongest alternative for the nation.

CPI National Committee member Md. Yousuf, attending as chief guest, noted that several colonies in Kuthbullapur— including Gubburugutta, Giri Nagar, Magdham Nagar, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Ravi Narayan Reddy Nagar, Lenin Nagar, and Srinivas Nagar — were established due to the efforts of local CPI leadership. He also recalled that 600 acres in Dundigal mandal were distributed to farmers through CPI-led struggles.

He urged the public to recognize CPI’s contribution to securing essential public facilities such as a medical college and hospital, an RTC bus depot at Jagadgirigutta, basti dawakanas, and land allocations for construction workers. He appealed to people to extend support to CPI in the future.

The meeting was presided over by CPI Mandal Secretary, with participation from District Secretary Umamahesh, district committee members Harinath Rao and Srinivas, senior leaders Yesu Ratnam, Venkatesh, Praveen, Babu, and several other leaders from affiliated organizations. Senior journalist Dappu Ramaswamy and hundreds of party workers were also present.

CPI(M) Mandal Secretary K. Lakshman along with CPI(M) and CITU leaders welcomed the bus yatra and felicitated the CPI representatives with shawls.
