Hyderabad, July 7: In a decisive operation aimed at protecting national security and curbing illegal narcotics activity, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended four foreign nationals—two from Nigeria, one from Tanzania, and one from Sudan—who were found overstaying in India and allegedly involved in drug peddling in Hyderabad and Bangalore.
The individuals apprehended are identified as Maxwell Anthony Izuchukwu (29) and Chinaza Nnanna Vivian alias Ibrahim Niasha (38), both from Nigeria; Mwajuma Almasi Masisila (30) from Tanzania; and Ahmed Hamid Abujabr Hamid (27) from Sudan. All four were residing in Hyderabad without valid visas and were suspected of being part of a drug trafficking network.
Mwajuma Almasi Masisila had entered India on a tourist visa and was staying in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. She was found to be closely associated with individuals involved in drug peddling. Her known associates—Maxwell, Chinaza, and Ahmed—were also linked to drug distribution activities in both Hyderabad and Bangalore. The group was reportedly operating in coordination with other offenders in the narcotics trade.
Acting on credible intelligence, the H-NEW team apprehended the four individuals. Although no drugs were found in their possession at the time of arrest, their inability to provide valid documentation and the expiration of their visas raised serious concerns. With the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), their identities and visa statuses were verified, confirming that all four were illegally overstaying in India.
Following the investigation, the Hyderabad City Police initiated deportation procedures in coordination with the FRRO and the respective embassies. The four individuals will be deported to their home countries and permanently blacklisted from re-entering India. Authorities cited the high likelihood of their continued involvement in drug peddling as a threat to national security.
The Hyderabad Police have issued a strong public advisory, warning citizens about the increasing number of foreign nationals entering India on tourist, student, and medical visas and later engaging in illegal activities. The police emphasized that such actions contribute to the rise of drug abuse in society, which has devastating effects on families and communities.
Parents are urged to monitor their children’s behavior and social circles to prevent them from falling into the trap of substance abuse. The H-NEW team has also provided a dedicated helpline—8712661601—for citizens to report any drug-related information or suspicious activities.
This successful operation was led by Sri G.S. Daniel, Inspector, and Sri C. Venkata Ramulu, Sub-Inspector, along with the dedicated staff of H-NEW, under the supervision of Y.V.S. Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW, Hyderabad City.
