#FakeCurrency Racket Busted in Tandur; Eight Arrested

Tandur : In a major operation, the Mehdipatnam Police and the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, jointly busted a fake currency manufacturing gang operating in Tandur. Acting on credible information, the teams conducted raids at Idgah Grounds and First Lancer, arresting a total of eight accused.

During the operation, police seized ₹4.75 lakh worth of counterfeit ₹500 notes, along with four two-wheelers, one car, and nine mobile phones.According to officials, the prime accused, Kasturi Ramesh Babu from Vikarabad district, had been producing fake notes with the help of his sister using a scanner, laptop, and Photoshop software. Investigations revealed that the gang circulated counterfeit currency in the market at a 1:4 ratio with genuine notes.

Police said Ramesh used Instagram to approach customers and sell the counterfeit currency. Through him, others involved in the chain system—Waheed, Taha, Sohail, Fahad, Imran, Omar, and Altamash—further circulated the fake notes.

All the accused were arrested and produced before the court. The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP South West Zone G. Chandramohan, with the support of Additional DCP Iqbal Siddiqui, ACP B. Kishan Kumar, Inspectors G. Santosh Kumar, Mallesham (CI), N. Rambabu, and SI Preeti Reddy.
